Actress recalls the harsh criticism her family faced for supporting her film dreams at a young age.
In a heartfelt interview, popular actress Tamannaah Bhatia spoke about the emotional challenges she and her family faced during the early days of her acting career. Entering the film industry at a very young age, Tamannaah revealed that her parents were often criticized and insulted by close relatives and friends for supporting her dreams.
“When it became known that I was joining films so young, many people insulted my parents. They asked, ‘Why are you sending such a small girl into the film industry? There are cruel situations there,’” Tamannaah shared. She added that such remarks deeply hurt her family, but they never let it stop her.
Despite the negativity, the actress chose to stay focused on her goal. “If I had listened to those words, I would not have become a star heroine today,” she said. Her words reflect the determination it takes to survive and grow in an industry known for its intense competition and criticism.
Tamannaah also addressed the ongoing issue of moral policing on social media. She particularly called out certain users—whom she referred to as “uncles on Twitter”—for giving outdated and unwanted advice to women. “In 2023, these uncles keep telling girls how to live their lives. Even responsible media liking such tweets is not right,” she said, adding that such behavior reflects the outdated mindset that still exists in society.
The actress believes that no matter the profession, women have to fight many battles to grow and earn respect. “To those who want to become heroines after seeing me, I want to say this — in any profession, a girl has to face many struggles to grow, and success is the only answer to all questions,” she added.
Tamannaah’s journey in the film industry spans nearly two decades. She is now known for taking on powerful roles, especially in web series, where female-led stories are gaining prominence. She shared that one of the biggest compliments she receives is when directors personally approach her, saying, “Only you can do justice to this role.”
Her inspiring words shed light on the realities of being a woman in cinema, reminding aspiring artists to stay strong, stay focused, and let success speak louder than judgment.
