The much-awaited War 2 teaser, released on the occasion of Jr NTR’s birthday, has received mixed to negative reactions, especially from Telugu cinema fans. Many expected the teaser to be a celebration of Jr NTR’s role in the film, but were left disappointed as the visuals heavily featured Hrithik Roshan, giving him more elevation — particularly through the voice-over narration.
Fans of the Young Tiger were hoping for a teaser filled with action-packed glimpses of Tarak, considering the release date coincided with his birthday. Instead, the teaser offered limited screen presence for Jr NTR, which led to widespread criticism on social media. Telugu audiences felt the teaser catered more to the North Indian audience, ignoring the massive fanbase NTR commands in the South.
Adding to the backlash were complaints about rushed VFX, lackluster visuals, and a scene showing Jr NTR jumping from a train — which drew comparisons to Ram Charan’s much-criticized moment in Vinaya Vidheya Rama. The design of Jr NTR’s look also failed to impress, and some scenes were seen as damaging to his image.
To make matters worse, more attention was drawn to Kiara Advani’s bikini shot than the actual screen presence of the two lead heroes. Fans are now questioning whether this version of the teaser was even shown to Tarak before release. With huge expectations riding on War 2, the pressure is now on director Ayan Mukerji to fix these issues in the upcoming trailer.
